ER2209 is a duplex stainless steel welding wire with a microstructure containing a mix of austenite and ferrite. This composition provides a balance of properties, combining the toughness of austenitic stainless steel with the high strength and corrosion resistance of ferritic stainless steel. It is engineered specifically for welding duplex stainless steels that contain approximately 22% chromium.
Key characteristics:High tensile strength: The duplex microstructure of ER2209 results in higher strength than standard austenitic stainless steels like 308L.Exceptional corrosion resistance: The wire provides excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (CSCC), pitting, and crevice corrosion in harsh chloride-containing environments.Good weldability: It offers stable arcs and smooth, spatter-free welding when using optimal parameters.Wide service temperature range: The wire can be used in a range of temperatures, including cryogenic applications and environments up to 300°C.Radiographic quality welds: High-quality welds suitable for demanding applications can be achieved.

ER5356 aluminum TIG wires are cut-length rods used for Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) applications that require high strength, excellent ductility, and superior corrosion resistance, particularly in saltwater environments. They are the TIG welding counterpart to ER5356 MIG wire.
Product characteristics:

Composition: ER5356 consists of aluminum alloyed with approximately 5% magnesium. This magnesium content is what gives the filler rod its desirable properties.Strength: Welds created with ER5356 offer higher tensile and shear strength compared to the common ER4043 aluminum filler.Corrosion resistance: Its high magnesium content provides excellent resistance to corrosion, especially when exposed to a marine environment.Weld appearance: The resulting welds are a good color match for the parent material after anodizing, as they appear silver-white. This contrasts with ER4043 welds, which can turn dark after anodizing.Weldability: It provides stable arc characteristics and good flow properties for consistent TIG welding.

ER308L is the most common stainless steel filler wire, used for welding standard austenitic stainless steels like 304 and 304L. The "L" indicates a low carbon content, which is important for preventing intergranular corrosion (carbide precipitation) in the weld during the welding process.
ER308L is available for both MIG (on spools) and TIG (in cut-length rods) welding processes.
ER308L characteristics:Composition: The wire is a chromium-nickel alloy with a nominal composition of 19.5–22.0% chromium and 9.0–11.0% nickel.Corrosion resistance: It provides excellent corrosion resistance, especially in applications where good resistance to food acids and cleaning chemicals is required.Mechanical properties: The wire produces strong and ductile welds suitable for many general-purpose applications.Versatility: It can be used for welding other grades as well, such as 321 and 347 stainless steels.

Country of OriginMade in India
Cobalt-based Co21 TIG welding wire (equivalent to Stellite 21 or AWS A5.21 ERCoCr-E) is a hardfacing alloy known for its excellent resistance to corrosion, galling, metal-to-metal wear, and high temperatures up to 800°C (approx. 1472°F).

Key Properties
  • Composition: Primarily an alloy of cobalt, chromium, and molybdenum, with smaller additions of nickel. It is a low carbon, austenitic alloy.
  • Hardness: As-welded hardness is relatively moderate (typically 20-35 HRC) but it exhibits excellent work hardening properties under impact, which increases its surface hardness in service.
  • Wear Resistance: Offers excellent resistance to metal-to-metal sliding wear, cavitation erosion, and galling, but is not typically recommended for severe hard particle abrasion.
  • High-Temperature Strength: Maintains good strength and stability at high temperatures (up to 800°C or more) and has excellent resistance to thermal shock and fatigue.
  • Corrosion Resistance: Provides superior resistance to various corrosive media, particularly in oxidizing and reducing atmospheres.
  • Machinability: Due to its lower carbide content compared to other cobalt alloys (like Co1 or Co6), it is more readily machinable using carbide tools.

COBALT BASED Co12 TIG welding wire, also known as Stellite 12 or AWS A5.21 ERCoCr-B, is a cobalt-chromium-tungsten alloy filler metal. It is used for hardfacing applications that require high resistance to wear, heat, and corrosion. Features and propertiesCo12 wire's composition, with a higher tungsten content than Co6, contributes to its increased hardness and wear resistance. It has a typical hardness of 44–50 HRC, which is maintained at high temperatures up to 650°C (1,202°F). Co12 offers excellent resistance to various types of wear, performs well in high temperatures up to 700°C (1,292°F), retains hardness up to 800°C (1,472°F), and resists chemical and mechanical degradation. It is also noted for its gliding characteristics and suitability for polishing. However, weld deposits require tungsten carbide tools or grinding for machining. ApplicationsCo12 TIG welding wire is used in various industries for components that face harsh conditions. These applications include cutting tools for materials like timber and plastics, valves in engines and high-pressure systems, mixing and shredding tools, bearings, blades, knives, and pump components such as vanes and impellers.

Choosing the correct TIG welding filler rod depends on the base metal you are welding and the specific project requirements. The most common types of filler rods are for stainless steel, mild steel, and aluminum.

Mild steelUsed for welding mild and low-alloy steels.
  • ER70S-2: A general-purpose, triple deoxidized filler rod that helps create strong, porosity-free welds on mild steel. An example is the KISWEL ER70S-2 Mild Steel TIG Welding Filler Rod.
  • ER70S-6: Similar to ER70S-2 but has higher levels of manganese and silicon, providing better puddle fluidity and penetration. For example, the Blulu Tig Welding Rod ER70S-6.
AluminumUsed with AC TIG welders for welding aluminum alloys.
  • ER4043: A popular, versatile rod containing 5% silicon. It has good flow characteristics and reduces the risk of cracking.
  • ER5356: Contains 5% magnesium and provides higher tensile strength than ER4043, along with excellent corrosion resistance.
  • ER4047: Contains 12% silicon, which offers excellent fluidity and minimal shrinkage for welds that require a high-quality finish.
How to select the right rod sizeThe diameter of the filler rod should be chosen based on the thickness of the material you are welding.
  • Thin sheet metal (under 1.6mm or 1/16"): Use a smaller diameter rod, such as 1.6mm (1/16").
  • Most general-purpose work (around 3.2mm or 1/8"): A 2.4mm or 3.2mm (3/32" or 1/8") rod is a good choice.
  • Heavy plate (above 6.4mm or 1/4"): Requires a larger diameter rod, 4.8mm (3/16") or larger.
